Family ‘devastated’ at death of musician who was found dead at property

The family of a musician who died following an incident in Inverness have said they are “devastated” at their loss.

Police were called to a property on Strathspey Place at about 8.30am on Thursday December 4.

Iain MacFarlane, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said that a 52-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death and appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court last week.

Mr MacFarlane’s family thanked the community for their support in a statement issued via Police Scotland on Monday.

They said: “We are devastated by the death of Iain. We would like to thank the community for their support and kind tributes to him.

“It has brought us comfort at this difficult time. We ask for privacy as we continue to come to terms with what has happened.”

Police urged anyone with further information about the incident to contact them.

Detective Inspector Caroline MacKay said: “Our thoughts remain with Iain’s family and friends.

“We have specially trained officers supporting them at what is a very difficult time.

“I’d like to thank the local community for the support and patience shown while inquiries were conducted in and around the area.

“Anyone with concerns or further information can still contact us on 101, quoting reference 0596 of December 4 or approach officers.”
