Police say death of ‘cherished’ mother now being treated as murder

The death of a “cherished” mother earlier this month is now being treated as murder by police.

Lili Stojanova, 54, was found unresponsive after officers were called to a report of a possible disturbance at a property on Milnbank Road in Dundee on Saturday December 6.

She was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Police said following a post-mortem examination, her death is being treated as murder.

The family of Ms Stojanova paid tribute to her in a statement released through Police Scotland.

They said: “We are heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Lili, a cherished mother, grandmother, daughter and a woman of remarkable talent.

“A true artist in every sense. She expressed herself through her art, which was a reflection of her gentle heart and unique soul.

“Losing her is a tragedy, and it is something our family is struggling to comprehend.”

Police Scotland said a 42-year-old man charged in connection with the incident appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court last week.

The force said investigations are continuing.
