A man has been arrested following the death of a 40-year-old in Alloa.
Police Scotland was alerted to reports of an injured man at an address on Gartmorn Road, Sauchie, at about 12.25am on Thursday.
William Devaney was pronounced dead at the scene and his death is being treated as murder.
A 26-year-old man arrested and charged in connection with the death is due to appear at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday.
In a statement, his family described Mr Devaney as “a really nice person, so joyful, full of life and full of banter.”
They added: “Everybody loved him and he loved everybody. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends and was loved by all.”
Detective Inspector Steven McLean, of the major investigation team, said: “Our thoughts are with William’s family and friends at what is an extremely difficult time. We are offering them support as our investigation progresses.
“Extensive inquiries are ongoing and we have a dedicated team of specialist officers working through all lines of inquiry.”
He asked anyone with information which has not yet been passed to police to call 101, quoting reference 0064 of 18 December, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Chief Inspector Garry Smith, the local area commander for Clackmannanshire, said: “Incidents like this in our community are shocking but rare.
“Our officers are continuing to work with colleagues from the major investigation team and we will have an increased police presence in the area for public reassurance.”
