Woman, 48, dies after two-vehicle crash

A 48-year-old woman has died after she was involved in a two-vehicle crash in Fife.

On Friday at 11.10pm, a black Nissan Qashqai and a white Volkeswagen Polo crashed on the B981 between Cluny and the roundabout at Chapel junction.

Emergency services attended and the driver of the Polo, a 48-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The three passengers in the Polo were taken to hospital for treatment, where one remains in a serious condition.

The driver of the Qashqai, a 33-year-old woman, was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence and was also taken to hospital.

The road was closed to allow inquiries to be carried out and was reopened at around 6.30am on Saturday.

Sergeant Louise Birrell said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died at this extremely difficult time.

“Enquiries into the crash are ongoing, and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything around the time to contact officers.

“I’d also ask that those with private CCTV or dash-cam footage which may assist to please review this to see if it has captured anything of significance.”

Anyone with any information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 3935 of 19 December, 2025.
