Coastguard search called off after creel boat runs ashore empty

The Coastguard has said they have called off their search after responding to an incident involving an unoccupied vessel that ran aground off Inverbervie Beach in Aberdeenshire.

Emergency services were alerted at about 11.15am on Saturday after reports of a creel boat having run ashore with its engine running. The search terminated at 9.20pm.

A Coastguard spokesman said: “The search terminated at 21:20 as unfortunately nothing was found.

“There are no plans to continue with a search at this time.”

Coastguard rescue teams from Montrose, Stonehaven, Arbroath and Aberdeen, as well as lifeboats from Aberdeen, Arbroath, Montrose and Stonehaven had assisted in the search on Saturday.
