New parents in Edinburgh have been given the best Christmas gift of all as they welcomed their babies into the world.
Hannah Bowers-Orso, 35, gave birth to her son at 2am on Christmas Day, despite her and dad Jack, 31, not expecting his arrival until January 14.
Weighing in at 6lb 4oz, the boy – who is yet to be named by his parents – was born in the Royal Infirmary.
“It was an extraordinary surprise and it all happened so fast, but happily we were all prepared,” Ms Bowers-Orso said.
“We just can’t wait to get to know him.”
Hannah Quinn, 21, and Kerr Smith, 26, welcomed their daughter shortly after.
Born at 2.31am and tipping the scales at 6lb 4oz, the girl’s parents are still deciding on a name, but hoped to be able to head home with her in time for Christmas dinner.
Ms Quinn said: “She is the best Christmas present anyone could ask for.
“It all went so well and we are so happy.”
Hayley Keir, from Alva, welcomed her son at 2.14am at Forth Vally Royal Hospital in Larbert.
The as yet unnamed boy is her first child and was born at 7lb 14oz
Lynzie Bryce delivered a brother for 13-month-old daughter Isla at 3.20am, weighing in at 7lb 8oz.
