A man has died after being found injured in an Edinburgh park during Hogmanay.
Officers were called to the Meadows shortly after 10.30pm on Wednesday, following “a report of a man injured”.
Emergency services attended but the male was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said his death is being treated as “unexplained” but not suspicious.
In a widely-reported statement a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.35pm on Wednesday December 31, 2025, officers were called to Middle Meadow Walk, Edinburgh, following a report of a man injured.
“Emergency services attended however the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is being treated as unexplained, however there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
