Police are searching for thieves who broke into two hotels in the Scottish Borders within an hour.
Officers said two men entered the Park Hotel in Innerleithen Road in Peebles at about 1.20am on Friday and stole a four-figure sum of cash before making off in the direction of High Street.
At around 2.15am, the same men broke into the Traquair Arms Hotel in Traquair Road in Innerleithen, Police Scotland said, stealing a safe and a four-figure sum of cash.
The force said the incidents are being treated as linked.
Both men are described as white, in their 60s, and wearing dark clothing and gloves. One wore a cap and the other a beanie-style hat.
Detective Constable Nicky Batten said: “Our inquiries are ongoing to identify the two men involved and trace the car they used.
“Officers are studying CCTV from in and around the area to gather more information.
“I would urge anyone who was in these areas early on Friday morning who has any information or personal footage which could assist our inquiries to please contact us.”
