Police find missing prisoner after four days

Police have traced a prisoner who failed to return to jail after being missing for four days.

James Fitzpatrick was reported missing to police on Tuesday December 30 after failing to turn up to HMP Castle Huntly, an open prison, near Dundee.

The public was previously warned not to approach the man.

Police Scotland said extensive inquiries had been launched to track down the 36-year-old.

He had failed to return to jail following an approved visit earlier.

During the search, police said he had last been seen getting off a bus in Stevenson, North Ayrshire.
