Reward of up to £20,000 offered to find whoever shot young father

A reward of up to £20,000 is being offered to help trace whoever is responsible for the murder of a young father who was shot dead in his home.

Jordan Gray, 26, was found dead at his home in Shields Court, Motherwell, on December 15.

He had suffered a fatal firearm injury the previous night.

Police Scotland have launched a murder inquiry and have been combing CCTV footage to search for evidence.

The charity Crimestoppers has offered the reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the fatal shooting.

It is believed that Mr Gray, who lived alone, was deliberately targeted.

Extensive inquiries have not yet recovered the gun used in the shooting and Crimestoppers say the killer remains at large.

Angela Parker, national manager for Scotland at Crimestoppers, said: “This was a shocking act of violence that took the life of a young man in his own home and left a community fearful and grieving.

“We know that some people are reluctant to speak directly to the police but Crimestoppers offers an alternative, completely anonymous way to share what you know.

“You will never be asked for your name or personal details, and your identity will never be revealed.

“What you tell us could bring justice for Jordan, his family and the community. Even the smallest piece of information could help find those responsible for Jordan’s death.”

The reward of up to £20,000 for information the charity receives exclusively is open until April 26 2025.

On Tuesday, Mr Gray’s family said they were “devastated” by his loss as they appealed for people to come forward with information.

Michael Groome, Jordan’s stepfather, said: “His sisters and wee brother are struggling to understand how someone could do this to their big brother. Jordan’s baby will have to grow up without knowing how much his dad loved him.

“We would like to thank the police for their continued support and ask that if anyone knows anything about what happened to Jordan, no matter how small, that you come forward and speak to the police.

“Help us stop them from doing this to someone else and leaving another family heartbroken.”
