Firefighters extinguish village blaze

Firefighters have extinguished a blaze at commercial premises in an Aberdeenshire village.

Emergency services were called to Auchry Road in Cuminestown at around 8.10am on Saturday.

At the height of the incident around 40 firefighters were tackling the blaze in the village near Turiff.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said the last appliance left the scene at around 2.45pm.

Police advised people to avoid the area and asked local residents to remain indoors and keep doors and windows closed during the incident.
