Firefighters extinguish tower block blaze

Firefighters have tackled a blaze at a tower block in North Lanarkshire.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent nine fire engines and specialist appliances to the scene when the alarm was raised just after 10pm on Thursday.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze at the building in the Shields Drive area of Motherwell.

One fire engine remained at the scene at 6.30am on Friday.
