A 16-year-old boy and 44-year-old man who died after their vehicle crashed and went on fire have been named.

Kai Mathieson, 16, and David Allan Mackay, 44, were involved in the crash at around 1.45am on Saturday February 21 on the A830 at Corpach, north of Fort William.

Emergency services attended and both were found inside the blue Vauxhall Astra.

No other vehicles were involved, and Police Scotland says inquiries into the cause of the incident are ongoing.

Officers paid tribute to the pair and have appealed to the public for information.Sergeant Calum MacAulay said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the people who died in this crash. We ask that their privacy is respected at this time.

“I would again appeal to anyone who was driving on the A830 in the early hours of February 21, and hasn’t already spoke to police, to please come forward.

“If you witnessed anything which may help, or have relevant dash-cam footage around the time, we ask that you contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 0389 of February 21.
