Firefighters extinguish blaze in building at Peterhead harbour

Firefighters have extinguished a blaze in a building at Peterhead harbour.

Seven appliances and a high-reach vehicle were at the scene at the height of the incident on Farmer’s Lane in the Aberdeenshire town.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to the incident at 5.38pm on Tuesday.

Firefighters had extinguished the blaze more than three hours later at 8.47pm.

There were no reports of any casualties.

A sign-making company called Imagineering, which has been open since 2005, said it was shut because of the fire.

North East Radio also posted on social media, saying they were off air temporarily on Tuesday evening as the power was out in the area.

Ronnie Arthur, a presenter at the radio station, told the Press Association: “Our premises are located some distance from where the fire occurred, but it was still clearly visible.

“From what I witnessed personally, the fire was quite significant.”
