Emergency services called to 15-vehicle motorway crash

Emergency services were called to a 15-vehicle crash which temporarily closed a stretch of motorway.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent three fire appliances and a heavy rescue unit to the scene on the M73 when the incident happened just before midnight on Sunday.

The Scottish Ambulance Service also went to the scene.

The road was closed northbound between J2 Gartcosh and J3 while emergency services dealt with the incident in Lanarkshire.

It reopened just before 4am on Monday, Traffic Scotland said.

Details about whether anyone was injured have not yet been released.
