Rail services face disruption after maintenance train derails

Some train services in northern Scotland have been disrupted after a track maintenance train derailed.

The “low speed” derailment happened overnight between Huntly and Insch in Aberdeenshire leaving the line blocked, ScotRail said.

It said that services from Inverness to Aberdeen will terminate and start back from Huntly on Tuesday.

ScotRail said the re-railing team is at the scene.

It said that limited rail replacement transport is available, and ticket acceptance with Stagecoach North is in place between Aberdeen and Inverness on bus numbers 10 and M96.

ScotRail said that Montrose/Aberdeen-Inverurie trains are not affected by the disruption.
