Police have launched a murder inquiry following a man’s death in Glasgow.
Officers were called to a report of concern for the occupant at a property in Glenraith Square at around 5.45pm on Tuesday March 17.
David Smith, 49, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said that following a post-mortem examination, his death is being treated as suspicious and a murder inquiry has been launched.
Officers are appealing for information.
Detective Chief Inspector Laura Young, of Police Scotland’s major investigations team, said: “Our thoughts are with David Smith’s family and friends at this time.
“Specialist officers are providing them with support as our investigation progresses.
“Extensive inquiries are being carried out and we are working to establish the full circumstances of what happened in the days before David was found deceased.
“This includes officers going door to door in the local area, as well as thorough analysis of the available CCTV footage from the area.
“I am appealing to anyone who may have any information or believes they have seen any suspicious activity in the Glenraith Square area from Friday March 13 until Tuesday March 17 to get in touch.
“Your information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, may be important so please contact us as soon as possible.”
The force said there will be a continued police presence in the area and anyone with concerns or information is urged to approach officers.
Local area commander, Chief Inspector Jon Watters, said: “We understand the impact this will have on the local community and we would like to thank everyone for their help so far with our inquiries.”
Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting ref 2760 of March 17 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
An online portal has also been set up to encourage members of the public to submit information directly to officers.
The major incident public portal (MIPP) gives members of the public access to a form where they can send information directly to the major investigation team.
It can be accessed at: https://mipp.police.uk/operation/SCOT26G04-PO1
