Further searches being carried out at home of teenager missing since 1998

Further searches being carried out at home of teenager missing since 1998

Further searches are being carried out at the former home of a Fife teenager who disappeared nearly three decades ago.

Kenneth Jones was last seen at about 10.30pm on November 2 1998 in the Ancrum Court area of Glenrothes.

His family, who reported him missing on November 4, have not heard from him since.

He was 18 years old at the time and would be 46 today.

On Wednesday, officers from Police Scotland’s major investigations team were returning to Mr Jones’s former address to carry out “specific searches” in the property’s garden.

They will be assisted by local officers and experts, among others.

The move comes after detectives returned to the address in February to carry out further inquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Jonathan Pleasance said: “We are returning to Ancrum Court to carry out specific searches in the garden following our inquiries in February.

“We remain committed to establishing the full circumstances of what happened to Kenneth and will explore all possible opportunities, including modern technology, which could assist.

“The investigation continues to review all available evidence and we are keeping an open mind.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have any information, no matter how small it may seem, to come forward.

“It’s essential we find out what happened to Kenneth to bring his family some much-needed closure.”

When reported missing in 1998, Kenneth was described as white, 6ft 2ins, with short, dark brown hair.

When last seen, he was wearing a black leather zip-up jacket, black jeans and yellow and green trainers.

Anyone with information that could assist in the inquiry is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
