A man has suffered serious injuries in a stabbing in a seaside town.
Police said the attack on the 34-year-old happened inside a property in Mill Street, Ayr, at around 4.15pm on Saturday.
The man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.
Officers are treating the incident as attempted murder and appealed for information.
Detective Sergeant Davie Gillies of Ayr CID said: “The victim sustained serious injuries during this incident so we are urgently appealing to anyone with any information that could assist our investigation to get in touch.”
