Man appears in court accused of stealing car and causing death of pensioner

A man has appeared in court charged with causing death by dangerous driving following an incident in which a 74-year-old man died after being hit by a car.

The incident on Monday involved a red Maserati Quattroporte, which is understood to have crashed into a garden on Forthill Road, Broughty Ferry, on Monday.

Fraser Garden, 55, is accused of stealing the car and has been charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Garden, of no fixed address, made no plea at Dundee Sheriff Court and was remanded in custody.

The incident happened on Forthill Road at around 1pm on Monday.

Police closed the road for more than seven hours to carry out a crash investigation before reopening it at 8.30pm.
