Hunt continues for ‘dangerous’ man suspected of killing 82-year-old woman

Police are continuing to hunt for a “dangerous” man suspected of killing of an 82-year-old woman in Glasgow.

Elizabeth Colligan, 82, was found injured in Cardowan Road in the Carntyne area at around 4am on Saturday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency services were called.

Grant McKinnon, 30, was last seen in the area at the same time.

Police have described him as “dangerous” and warned members of the public not to approach him, saying they should call 999.

On Monday police confirmed an information portal has been set up where members of the public can send information, images and footage directly to the police.

Detective Inspector Gordon Walker said: “Our thoughts remain with Elizabeth’s family and friends during this very difficult time. We are continuing to offer them our support as the investigation progresses.

“Officers are following a positive line of inquiry and work is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what has happened.

“This includes door-to-door inquiries in the local area, as well as a detailed review of all available CCTV footage.

“We are especially keen to speak with anyone who saw or heard anything around 4am on Saturday April 18 2026.

Chief Inspector Jon Watters said: “We understand that this will be concerning for the local community and we want to reassure the public that extensive inquiries are under way.

“There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days, and anyone with information or concerns is encouraged to speak with officers.”

Anyone with any information can contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 0523 of April 18. Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555111.

The information portal is at: mipp.police.uk/operation/SCOT26X04-PO1
