Man hunted after death of 82-year-old was ‘agitated’ when last seen, police say

Police have said a man they are keen to trace following the death of an 82-year-old woman may have been in an “agitated state” when last seen.

Elizabeth Colligan was found injured on Cardowan Road in the Carntyne area of Glasgow at around 4am on Saturday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency services were called.

Police have launched a murder investigation and are appealing for information.

They are keen to trace Grant McKinnon, 30, who was last seen in the Cardowan Road area at around 4am on Saturday.

Officers believe he may have vital information about the death and said extensive searches to trace him are under way.

They said he is considered “dangerous” and have urged anyone who sees him not to approach him but to contact police.

Superintendent Craig Brady said: “We have a dedicated team of officers working to find Grant McKinnon.

“Our inquiries suggest he may have been in an agitated state when last seen.

“Officers remain in the area and searches are being carried out in a number of areas, which include specialist resources from our dog unit. The public can approach officers if they have any concerns or call 101.

“We understand this police presence may be unsettling for the local community, but please be assured we are doing everything we can to trace Grant.

“I am also appealing to the local community to assist us and asking anyone who knows where Grant is or where he might be to get in touch.

“The public should not approach him but contact us immediately on 999, quoting incident number 0523 of Saturday April 18, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Mr McKinnon is described as white, 6ft, of slim build, with a shaved head.

When last seen he was wearing a black jacket with a red hood, or red hood lining, and blue jeans.
