Cambridge claimed their second consecutive League One victory with a 2-0 win at Stevenage.
United had beaten Wigan by the same scoreline on Saturday to finally get their first triumph of the season at the 10th time of asking.
Korey Smith fired them in front after 32 minutes at the Lamex Stadium before then they shut up shop in the second period, blocking and frustrating the home side at every turn before Sullay Kaikai wrapped things up on the break in the final minute.
Smith’s goal was not the cleanest hit in the world, and there was a deflection on the way that took it wide of Murphy Cooper and into the corner, but it was a deserved lead for the visitors.
Smith could have repeated the trick but a shot from the edge of the box was met by a good hand from Cooper.
Boro had offered little in the first half and while a triple change at the break gave them more of the ball, chances did not follow as Kaikai killed them off at the death.
