Bromley reach third round of the FA Cup for first time with win at Solihull

Bromley will play in the FA Cup third round for the first time in their history after coming from behind to beat Solihull 2-1 at Damson Park.

Conor Wilkinson opened the scoring inside the first 10 minutes for National League Moors before Omar Sowumni and Danny Imray scored for League Two Bromley to complete the comeback.

In a replay of last season’s National League play-off final, Wilkinson put Andy Whing’s side ahead when he allowed a throw-in to run across his body before drilling in a left-footed effort from the edge of the box.

Solihull were ahead for less than three minutes as Ben Thompson’s quick-thinking played in Corey Whitely down the right from a free-kick.

Moors goalkeeper Laurie Walker got a hand to Whitely’s whipped cross but could only divert the ball onto the thigh of Sowumni and into the net.

Bromley went in front after the break when Imray pounced on indecisiveness from Walker and Finn Howell, knocking Thompson’s forward ball away from Walker and tapping into an empty net.

Solihull came agonisingly close to an equaliser when Wilkinson’s curling effort from distance crashed against the crossbar, but Bromley hung on.
