Ten-man Altrincham hold on to take point from Halifax stalemate

Hosts Altrincham clung on to claim a goalless draw with Vanarama National League rivals Halifax despite playing the entire second half with 10 men.

Former Halifax striker Matty Kosylo was sent off during the interval but a fine performance from Altrincham keeper Ethan Ross helped his side extend their unbeaten run to four games.

Ross had denied Halifax midfielder Florent Hoti from close range in the first half, while Halifax goalkeeper Sam Johnson denied Alex Newby in the hosts’ best chance.

Ross produced a superb save to deny Billy Waters after the break while Halifax substitute Andrew Oluwabori fired just wide before Altrincham’s Jake Bickerstaff had a chance to win it in the dying stages.
