Huddersfield’s unbeaten run comes to an end against managerless Bolton

Managerless Bolton ended Huddersfield’s unbeaten League One run at 16 games as Aaron Collins’ second-half goal earned the visitors a 1-0 win at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Collins struck 10 minutes after half-time to hand the Terriers their first league defeat since October 1.

Bolton, playing their first game since sacking Ian Evatt, made an excellent start and dominated the first 10 minutes but were unable to turn that into clear-cut chances.

Klaidi Lolos shot straight at Huddersfield goalkeeper Jacob Chapman after cutting in from the left, and soon after Collins was called offside after his header forced a spectacular save.

The first half grew cagier from there, with the hosts establishing greater control but they could not find ways to test Bolton keeper Luke Southwood.

Collins gave Bolton the lead in the 55th minute, rounding Chapman and slotting home off Josh Dacres-Cogley’s quick-thinking dinked ball into the box.

Huddersfield continued to struggle for chances, with substitute Callum Marshall going closest with a strike from a narrow angle that forced a save.

Bolton substitute Joel Randall then shot straight at Chapman after going through one-on-one late on, but it did not prove costly.
