Leyton Orient resumed their tilt at the League One play-offs with a convincing 3-0 victory over out-of-form Mansfield, who registered their seventh-consecutive defeat in all competitions.
Jordan Brown, Randell Williams and Ethan Galbraith found their way onto the scoresheet to secure the points for the home side who have now won 10 of their last 13 league matches.
Three first-half goals put the O’s – who were playing with energy and intensity – into a commanding position.
The opener came when midfielder Brown met a Galbraith corner to steer the ball past Christy Pym in the Stags goal after six minutes for his first goal of the season.
Then after 17 minutes, Williams, who was making his debut following his move from Bolton on transfer deadline day, seized onto a Brown pass and quickly broke clear of the Mansfield defence before firing a left-footed shot from 20 yards into the far corner.
Galbraith went on a solo run just after the half-hour mark before unleashing a 22-yard effort past Pym.
The O’s continued to dominate after the interval but without further reward as the visitors found more resolution to their defending.
