A first Stevenage goal for Chem Campbell gave his side a 1-0 win over Wycombe and sent them back into League One’s top two.
The winner came on 34 minutes and stemmed from Boro winning the ball high up the pitch. Dan Phillips could have shot well before he did but he gave the defender time to block.
However, the ball spun up and out to former Wanderers loanee Campbell and he hooked back across goal and into the far corner.
Jamie Reid also stung the hands of Mikki van Sas while Jordan Roberts headed wide from 12 yards after Carl Piergianni had beaten the keeper to a deep free-kick.
Wycombe had started the better but other than a Taylor Allen shot that squirted across the face of goal, and one effort from Daniel Udoh well blocked by Lewis Freestone, they did not test Filip Marschall.
The second period degenerated into complaints and niggly fouls and threatened to derail Stevenage.
Armando Junior had one sight of goal that Freestone again nipped in the bud but after a worrying 15 minutes, the home side recovered their composure.
It allowed them to steer their way calmly through the eight added minutes to the three points.
