James Gale rescued a much-needed point as Altrincham recorded a 1-1 National League draw against Wealdstone at Grosvenor Vale to halt a five-match losing streak.
Connor McAvoy headed home an early opener as he got on the end of a dangerous ball from Anthony Georgiou to put the hosts in front.
Wealdstone pressed for a second goal but Micah Obiero fired wide, while Lewis Banks could have done better with a half-chance to equalise around the 30-minute mark.
But Gale equalised for Altrincham on the stroke of half-time after Jimmy Knowles’ original shot was parried out and fell to his feet for him to notch his third goal of the season.
Stones winger Enzio Boldewijn’s appeals for a penalty after the break were dismissed, while – at the other end – Isaac Marriott had a shot saved by Dante Baptiste before the spoils were shared.
