Barrow extend unbeaten run with draw against Shrewsbury

Barrow extended their unbeaten League Two run to three games but struggling Shrewsbury deserved their point from a 0-0 draw at Holker Street.

However, despite an improved performance, Michael Appleton’s visitors remain in the relegation zone.

With a gale-force wind at their backs in the first half, Shrewsbury created the best chances against their under-par Cumbrian hosts.

Luca Hoole hit the post with a curling left-footed effort while home goalkeeper Wyll Stanway tipped over Anthony Scully’s long-range attempt. Stanway then blasted a clearance against John Marquis which drifted just wide.

Barrow expected a similar wind boost after half-time but Shrewsbury remained the better side without creating clear chances.

Barrow, unbeaten at home against the Shrews since 1968, might have snatched an undeserved winner.

Instead, Will Brook’s first save blocked Isaac Fletcher’s effort while Will Boyle cleared as the ball bobbled towards the net to ensure the stalemate.
