Evan Khouri scored in the first minute as Grimsby eased to a 2-0 win at Salford in League Two.
The visitors raced into an early lead when Charles Vernam won possession deep in Salford territory and laid the ball off for Khouri to rifle home his fourth goal of the season.
Christy Pym was drawn into a smart reaction save by Daniel Udoh as Salford went in search of an immediate response.
But Grimsby remained in the ascendancy and doubled their lead when livewire Vernam powered a low effort from the edge of the box past unsighted goalkeeper Matthew Young.
Jorge Grant missed a golden opportunity to halve the deficit when he blazed over from close range before Udoh fired a shot from a tight angle at Pym as Salford pressed for a goal before half-time.
Young was at full stretch to deny George McEachran and Vernam with diving saves as Grimsby asserted pressure midway through the second half.
Pym comfortably saved a tame Rosaire Longelo effort from range before Adebola Oluwo headed a corner wide as Grimsby ran out convincing winners.
