Notts County inflicted a first away defeat of the season on Oldham as the Magpies cruised to a 3-1 home victory at Meadow Lane.
The home side broke the deadlock after just seven minutes when Alassana Jatta’s attempted cross from the left deflected off the unfortunate Donervon Daniels and into the net.
County deservedly doubled their lead on 29 minutes when Tyrese Hall curled a precise shot into the right corner of the goal after good play from Jatta to keep the ball alive in the box.
The Magpies appeared to wrap up the points four minutes after half time when Hall slipped in Jatta and the striker coolly finished through the legs of Oldham goalkeeper Mathew Hudson.
Oldham responded on 54 minutes when Hudson launched a kick up the pitch and Michael Mellon – son of Latics boss Micky – lobbed the ball over stranded County stopper Kelle Roos.
The Magpies are now unbeaten in their last five home matches, while Oldham tasted defeat on the road for the first time this campaign.
