Jack Grimmer snatches point for Wycombe at Blackpool with late equaliser

Captain Jack Grimmer snatched the latest of equalisers to earn Wycombe a dramatic 1-1 Sky Bet League One draw over managerless Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.

Grimmer fired home in the 12th minute of stoppage time to deny interim manager Stephen Dobbie victory in potentially his final game as Steve Bruce’s temporary replacement.

Blackpool looked poised to register just a third league win of the season thanks to Ashley Fletcher’s 45th-minute goal.

But they rode their luck before and after the striker’s third goal of the season.

Northern Ireland international Bailey Peacock-Farrell saved from Donnell McNeilly and Luke Leahy fired the follow-up effort wide minutes before Fletcher ran on to Tom Bloxham’s pass to score.

Wycombe created a raft of chances in the second half. Fred Onyedinma fired into the side-netting, while Peacock-Farrell denied Grimmer and substitute Alex Lowry.

The hosts saw skipper Michael Ihiekwe carried off the pitch on a stretcher in added time, resulting in a near six-minute delay.

Wycombe pressed for a leveller when the game resumed and were rewarded when Grimmer ran on to Connor Taylor’s pass to net his first goal since February 2024.
