Ciaran McGuckin’s second-half equaliser earned Eastleigh a 1-1 home draw against Scunthorpe in the National League.
Northern Ireland Under-21s striker McGuckin, on loan from Rotherham, struck deep in the second period to cancel out Danny Whitehall’s penalty for Scunthorpe against his former club.
Eastleigh goalkeeper Nick Townsend saved well from Carlton Ubaezuonu’s early effort and after a goalless first half, Whitehall opened the scoring from the spot after Jean Belehouan had been pushed in the area.
Scunthorpe hit the woodwork when Oli Ewing’s corner curled against a post, but Eastleigh rescued a point through McGuckin’s classy finish after he had been picked out by Luke Skinner inside the area.
