Cauley Woodrow brace helps Wycombe beat Plymouth

Wycombe progressed to the second round of the FA Cup with a comfortable 2-0 victory against Plymouth at Adams Park.

Cauley Woodrow bagged a second-half brace before the Chairboys finished the game with 10 men after Connor Taylor was sent off.

The home side dominated the opening 45 minutes and ended the half with 12 shots at goal but only one on target.

Captain Jack Grimmer saw his attempt get blocked by Mathias Ross after three minutes before Sam Bell went close with a fierce drive four minutes later.

Plymouth looked out of ideas but had their best chance of the half after nine minutes when a mistake by Mikki Van Sas allowed Lorent Tolaj through on goal but, after rounding the keeper, he put his shot wide.

Wycombe were in control and despite going into the break goalless, two goals in 12 second-half minutes put the game to bed.

Fred Onyedinma was fouled in the box by Alex Mitchell and Woodrow converted from the penalty spot after 67 minutes.

Woodrow grabbed his second after 79 minutes from close range following a goalmouth scrabble, taking his tally to four in his last three and five in 10 since joining on loan from Luton.

The Chairboys were reduced to 10 men in the dying embers when Taylor pulled down Tolaj, who was through on goal.
