Bolton edge past Huddersfield as duo open goal accounts

Ibrahim Cissoko and Richard Taylor scored their first Bolton goals to earn Wanderers a 2-1 Emirates FA Cup win over fellow League One side Huddersfield.

Wanderers were dramatic late 2-1 winners when the sides met in the league last month.

This knockout rematch was not as exciting but it had the same outcome as the relieved Trotters booked a place in Monday’s second-round draw.

Lee Nicholls kept the Terriers in the game with early saves from Joel Randall and loan ace Amario Cozier-Duberry, though Josh Feeney headed wide for the visitors.

But four minutes from half-time Cissoko netted a low left-foot shot from six yards after his first effort was blocked.

Huddersfield posed more of a threat in the second half and they were rewarded when Serbian Bojan Radulovic headed in Ruben Roosken’s cross after 63 minutes.

But Town were on level terms for only six minutes as Richard Taylor headed in from close range.

Josh Sheehan saw a piledriver tipped away by Nicholls but Huddersfield, beaten now in five successive games, should have forced extra time.

Substitute Cameron Ashia twice went close while Joe Taylor had a shot blocked by George Johnston after keeper Tyler Miller’s handling error.
