Captain Connor Kirby produced a moment of extra-time magic as National League North Buxton beat Chatham to reach the FA Cup second round.
Tope Fadahunsi had the Isthmian Premier League side ahead moments after half-time but Tate Campbell’s scrappy goal and Kirby’s rocket secured Buxton’s progress.
Visiting goalkeeper Henry Molyneux almost gifted Buxton an early goal after miscontrolling a throw-in, though he redeemed himself with a fine save from Campbell, while Kieran Burton headed just over moments before the break.
The seventh-tier Chats took a shock lead in the first minute of the second half through Fadahunsi’s fierce low strike.
Campbell equalised after Molyneux spilled an initial effort, taking the tie to extra-time where Kirby settled matters with a stunning long-range strike in the 114th minute.
