Jack Bridge strikes in stoppage time to earn Southend point at Woking

A superb stoppage-time strike by Jack Bridge earned Southend a share of the spoils at Woking in the National League.

Woking looked set for all three points after Josh Kelly fired them ahead midway through the second half.

Chances for a second came and went for Woking, which allowed them to be punished deep into stoppage-time when Southend academy graduate Bridge curled into the top corner.

After Southend suffered a frustrating FA Cup defeat at Wealdstone at the weekend, Kevin Maher’s team were eager to bounce back but struggled to make the most of several openings during a tight first half at Kingfield Stadium.

The visitors continued to push for an opener but were hit in the 68th minute when Kelly fired home after his initial effort was saved.

It looked likely to be enough to give Woking only a fifth league triumph of the campaign but Bridge had other ideas to earn Southend a point.
