Daniel Nkrumah’s late strike earned Wealdstone a 1-0 win over Braintree that leaves them on the cusp of the National League play-off places.
Nkrumah slotted the ball between the legs of Jack Thompson after being played in by Dylan Kadji to break the deadlock in the 83rd minute.
Wealdstone, who had earlier hit the crossbar through Nathan Tshikuna, then had to hang on through eight minutes of time added on, with Dante Baptiste making an outstanding save to push John Akinde’s close-range header on to the crossbar, then pushing a long-range effort from Sahid Kamara Jr over the top.
Struggling Braintree were left to rue first-half chances they failed to take, with neither Goran Babic or Terrell Works able to get the right contact as they tried to turn in crosses in front of goal.
