Tranmere scored late on to clinch a thrilling 3-2 victory over Cheltenham at Prenton Park and end a run of three League Two matches without a win.
Rovers made a fast start, taking the lead inside two minutes when Cheltenham defender James Wilson turned Jayden Joseph’s driven cross past the helpless Joe Day and into his own net.
They doubled their advantage in the 11th minute, Joe Ironside reacting sharply to a misplaced back-pass and sliding the ball home from close range.
Cheltenham responded well and pulled one back in the 34th minute when Jake Bickerstaff powered forward and Jordan Thomas forced the ball over the line.
Cheltenham looked the more dangerous after the break as substitute Hakeeb Adelakun and Thomas both came close to an equaliser.
And their pressure paid off in the 78th minute when substitute Josh Martin drove a low effort from the edge of the area beyond Murphy to level the match.
However, Rovers went back in front with four minutes remaining, Charlie Whitaker curling a superb 25-yard free-kick which hit a post and then the back of the unlucky Day before going in to seal a much-needed win for the hosts.
