Wycombe ran out 3-2 winners over high-flying Lincoln thanks to a last-minute winner from captain Jack Grimmer.
Wycombe took the lead just after the 15-minute mark when a wonderful pass from Cauley Woodrow found Daniel Harvie free on the left and he drove forward and played in Sam Bell, who slotted the ball through George Wickens’ legs.
Woodrow and Bell tested Wickens and following a spell of sustained Imps pressure, the visitors paid the price for being wasteful in the final third when Jamie Mullins slipped in Bell, who lifted his effort over an onrushing keeper to double Wycombe’s lead.
Half-time substitute Jack Moylan thought he had earned his side a penalty when he was tripped by Anders Hagelskjaer, but Oliver Langford judged that the Irishman had dived.
Justin Obikwu made the contest interesting by turning home a long throw and 10 minutes later, the visitors were level. Another substitute in Freddie Draper turned home former Chairboy Adam Reach’s pass to set up a grandstand finish.
The game always felt like it had another goal in it, and so it proved as a deep corner from Ewan Henderson was touched across goal by substitute Bradley Fink, with captain Grimmer lurking at the far post to restore Wycombe’s lead at the death.
