Cameron McGeehan scored a second-half brace as Northampton moved into the top half of Sky Bet League One by beating AFC Wimbledon 3-1 at Sixfields.
Marcus Browne cancelled out Conor McCarthy’s opener in the first half but McGeehan struck twice in the space of eight minutes to lift the Cobblers up to 10th.
McGeehan headed over early on before the home side broke the deadlock through McCarthy when he glanced home Dean Campbell’s corner in the 10th minute.
The Dons were gifted an equaliser just six minutes later though as Northampton failed to clear their lines and Marcus Browne converted at the third attempt after two fine saves from Ross Fitzsimons.
Wimbledon grew in confidence and Alistair Smith hit the crossbar, but the home side took control with a fast start to the second half.
McGeehan restored the lead five minutes after the break when he fired home from Jordan Thorniley’s chipped ball, before he then took down McCarthy’s flick-on and netted his second.
Smith volleyed wide and Fitzsimons saved with his legs from Browne late on but Northampton’s victory was never in doubt.
