Notts County were denied the chance to go top of League Two as leaders Walsall held them to a 0-0 draw at Meadow Lane.
County’s Matthew Dennis had the best chance of the game shortly before the hour mark as his effort from six yards out was athletically denied by visiting goalkeeper Myles Roberts.
Daniel Kanu had earlier gone similarly close for the visitors before the break, seeing a low shot saved by Kelle Roos after he collected Keanan Bennetts’ misdirected pass.
Dennis also had a half-chance for the hosts before the break, as did Ollie Norburn, but neither effort was on target, while an acrobatic bicycle kick from County defender Lewis Macari also flew wide.
However, outside of that, it was a scrappy affair, and although County largely dictated possession, the hosts were unable to turn their superiority into three points.
The result ensured Mat Sadler’s side stay two points above County, who slipped behind Bromley following their win over Grimsby.
