Mark Hughes gets the better of Robbie Savage again as Carlisle beat Forest Green

Mark Hughes completed the double over Robbie Savage as David Ajiboye’s solo effort put the gloss on Carlisle’s 3-1 win over Forest Green in the National League.

Hughes’ Cumbrians scored all of their goals in the first period, Stephen Wearne netting after 11 minutes and captain Morgan Feeney converting the second midway through the half.

Ajiboye then provided a moment of real class, jinking through the home defence with a stylish run and finish just before the half-hour mark.

Savage’s side tried to mount a comeback but Jay Mingi’s effort seven minutes after the interval was all they could produce, leaving Carlisle clear in third and Forest Green seven points further back in sixth.
