Fleetwood produce late fightback to beat Barrow

Fleetwood produced a stunning late fightback to beat Barrow 3-2 in League Two.

Josh Gordon and Niall Canavan put the visitors 2-0 up at half-time but Esapa Osong pulled one back for Fleetwood after 64 minutes.

Crispin McLean grabbed an equaliser in the 89th minute before Barrow goalkeeper Wyll Stanway fumbled in Fleetwood’s winner in added time.

Barrow led 10 minutes in, with Gordon scoring from the spot. The striker chased down Charlie McCann’s chip over the defence, beating Jay Lynch to the ball before being upended by the onrushing keeper.

The Bluebirds doubled their lead 11 minutes before the break. Their pressure forced Shaun Rooney into conceding a corner which McCann sent to the back post, with Barrow captain Canavan heading home from close range.

Fleetwood had barely troubled the visitors in the first half but Osong gave them hope with a goal on 64 minutes, turning home after Stanway parried Matty Virtue’s shot.

Fellow substitute McLean then turned in from close range on 88 minutes before, deep into added time, a goalmouth scramble ended with Stanway’s own goal.
