Carlisle return to winning ways by edging past Eastleigh

Carlisle returned to winning ways with a narrow 2-1 Enterprise National League victory away to Eastleigh.

Josh Lundstram came close for the hosts early on but failed to hit the target while, at the other end, Regan Linney had a couple of chances of his own before firing wide as the score remained goalless at half-time.

Carlisle midfielder Jordan Cousins shot over the crossbar from the edge of the box as they pushed for an opener, which came though Georgie Kelly, nine minutes after the break.

The Irish forward turned home Linney’s cross from close range before Stephen Wearne doubled their lead after 69 minutes.

Temi Eweka pulled one back at the death for the Spitfires but it was too little to late as Carlisle took maximum points home to remain third.
