Lewis Richardson levelled things up for Boreham Wood three minutes into the second half, heading home from Zak Brunt’s corner.
York were reduced to 10 men in the 61st minute when Josh Stones was shown a second yellow card and the home side took full advantage, with Cameron Coxe putting them ahead after 78 minutes before Charlie O’Connell’s 87th-minute goal made it 3-1.
Ollie Banks pulled a goal back in added time but York suffered defeat, with Rochdale returning to the summit after beating Brackley 3-2.
