Rotherham manager Matt Hamshaw was left feeling frustrated following his team’s 0-0 draw with Mansfield.
A stalemate looked on the cards early on with chances at a premium throughout the game.
The best opportunities came in the second half with Reece James denied by a brave block from Lucas Akins when he looked destined to turn in at the back post.
Louis Reed’s deflected effort at the other end, from a well worked free-kick, just skipped over the bar and both teams were forced to settle for a point.
The Millers remain in one of the four relegation places, two points from safety, with Hamshaw left feeling surprised his side could not build on Saturday’s win over Plymouth.
He said: “I am disappointed, but I don’t think we did enough to win the game.
“I thought it was a poor game. We lacked a little bit of conviction and confidence which is surprising after Saturday. We looked a bit flat.
“I am disappointed with the outcome.
“I might wake up tomorrow and think this is a good point but I just felt we did not do enough to win the game and we need to be better than that.
“I felt like a corner or a set-piece could have nicked the game.”
Mansfield now have Arsenal to look forward to in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Saturday.
Manager Nigel Clough is pleased his side have picked up back-to-back draws ahead of the clash with the Premier League leaders.
He said: “When you have lost three on the spin you are not looking forward to playing Arsenal.
“We have got a couple of draws and we have played well in those games and there is an argument to say we could have got six points from the last two games.
“Now we have got a free hit on Saturday and we will give it absolutely everything to try to cause an upset.”
Clough felt his side just edged the contest with Rotherham.
He added: “I thought we just had the better of them. We had a few situations and all that Liam (Roberts) has had to do is save a few long-range shots.
“From the hour mark on I thought we were in control again and more likely to score.
“You don’t mind coming away from home, being nice and tight, and we grew into the game.
“Over the course of the game, I thought we had the better chances but we just could not get a break in the penalty area.
“It was two very honest teams in the bottom half of the table battling away.”
