Substitute Owen Bray scored an 86th-minute winner as Halifax recovered from being pegged back twice to beat Boreham Wood 3-2 in the Enterprise National League.
Lewis Richardson thought he had earned the visitors a point with his third goal in four matches – and fifth in the last eight – after converting Abdul Abdulmalik’s 54th-minute lay-off for the fourth-placed side.
However, when Billy Waters released Bray down the right he advanced to score from just outside the penalty area.
Halifax’s 20th-minute opener from Josh Hmami’s header – his 14th goal of the season – was cancelled out just six minutes later by Zak Brunt, scoring his 15th of the campaign after a direct move from back to front.
Will Smith put the home side again in the 32nd minute after Boreham Wood failed to deal with Cody Johnson’s cross to the far post.
After Richardson levelled things up for a second time after the break team-mate Matt Rush had a goal ruled out for offside, allowing Bray to snatch the points.
