Jimmy-Jay Morgan helps Peterborough earn draw at AFC Wimbledon

Jimmy-Jay Morgan’s second-half goal helped Peterborough snatch a point in an entertaining 1-1 draw with AFC Wimbledon at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.

Morgan struck for the fourth successive game, taking his season’s tally to 13, after Dons captain Ryan Johnson had put the home side ahead.

Kyrell Lisbie almost gave the visitors the lead within a minute of kick-off, but Joe McDonnell made an outstanding save to keep the ball out of his bottom-right corner.

The game burst back into life in the 20th minute when Myles Hippolyte blasted a shot against the left post after some intricate Dons distribution inside Peterborough’s half.

Marcus Browne played a key role in that move and he thought he had given the Dons the lead after an equally impressive corner-kick routine in the 37th minute but his goal was ruled out for offside.

The pressure finally paid off in the 43rd minute when another corner dropped to Johnson, who fired in from close range.

Brandon Khela sent Lisbie through on goal with a delightful pass in the 62nd minute, but McDonnell got off his line quickly to keep his side ahead.

The visitors were back on level terms in the 67th minute after Morgan tapped Cian Hayes’ pass in from close range.

Junior Nkeng scored his first two senior goals against Leyton Orient on Tuesday, and he was inches away from a spectacular late winner after producing a powerful shot from distance that collided with the post.
